    1. Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (360°F) for 2 minutes.
    2. Spray some cooking oil or cooking spray on the fryer basket to ensure the chips don't stick when cooking.
    3. Spread a single layer of oven chips across the base of the basket. There is no need to defrost the chips as they should cook perfectly from frozen.
    4. Cook the oven chips for 8-20 minutes, see the cook times we use for different thicknesses below.
    5. Remove and shake the fry basket halfway through cooking, this ensures all the chips cook through evenly.
    6. Replace the fry basket and continue cooking, when your oven chips look golden and appear crispy, remove them from the basket and serve immediately.

    How long to cook oven chips in an Air Fryer?

    The overall time it takes to cook oven chips in an air fryer depends on the thickness of the chips.

    Thin French fries usually cook for 8-10 minutes. Regular straight-cut or crinkle chips are perfectly cooked in 12 to 15 minutes.

    Chunky oven chips are much larger and should need up to 20 minutes. Also, if you don't preheat the air fryer, the chips could take slightly longer to cook.

    Tip: If you're using frozen oven chips, do not allow them to defrost, they will become wet and soggy and will need to be cooked even longer.

    Do you need to add oil to cook oven chips in an Air Fryer?

    No, you do not need to add oil when cooking oven chips in an air fryer. Most store-bought oven chips already have a light oil coating on them, that's more than enough.
