    Equipment

    • Air fryer
    • Plastic tongs
    • Paper towels

    Ingredients

    • 6 slices bacon
    US Customary - Metric

    Instructions

    • Pour a small amount of water into the bottom of the air fryer basket, to help avoid excessive smoking while cooking.
    • Spread out the bacon in a cold air fryer basket. Make sure they don't cover each other, you want to cook them in a single layer. They can however be placed very close together.

    • Set your air fryer to cook at 360 °F for 6 minutes.
    • Check if the bacon is crispy enough, and if not add another minute or two.
    • Remove bacon from the air fryer and place on parchment paper to crisp up and remove excess grease.

    Notes

    What To Do With Leftovers

    • Bacon is best eaten straight after cooking, but you can also store leftovers for later. You can reheat the leftovers or crumble it on top of salads, sandwiches, etc.
    • Storing: Store leftovers in the fridge in an air tight container for up to 3 days.
    • Freezing: We don't recommend freezing leftovers.
    • Reheating: Reheat leftovers in the air fryer. Air fry 2-3 minutes at 360 °F (180 °C) until warm.

    Tips for the Crispiest Bacon

    • Bring the bacon out at least 30 minutes before cooking. This is not entirely necessary, so if you didn't - don't worry! But letting the bacon heat up slowly first starts the process of the fat solids melting and releasing their flavor into the meat. This is also why we don't preheat the air fryer for this recipe!
    • Do not add any oil to the air fryer. There is so much fat already in the bacon that no extra oil is necessary. Actually, we are wanting dome of the fat to run off to allow for the bacon to crisp up nicely.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to cook bacon in an air fryer?

We think the best way is to cook it at 180°C/360°F for 5-6 minutes. This gives the bacon a nice crispy texture that we think is just perfect.

Some recipes will tell you to cook at 200°C/400°F, but this will often result in the bacon burning a bit.

Can you cook frozen bacon in an air fryer?

Yes, you can! Just raise the temperature slightly to 200°C/390°F and cook it a few minutes longer. If the slices are stuck together, start with 2 minutes, separate the slices into a single layer, and then air fry 6 minutes or until done and crispy. Place on parchment paper to crisp up.

For all the details on how to do this, we have this guide: Air Fryer Frozen Bacon.

Do you need to defrost frozen bacon before cooking it in an air fryer?

No, you don't need to defrost bacon before cooking it in an air fryer. Actually, it's better not to. Just cook it according to the instructions above, and it will be perfect!

Do you need to add oil to cook bacon in an air fryer?

Nope! You don't need to add any oil at all. The bacon will cook perfectly well without it.
