    Ingredients

    • 2 sausages any kind
    US Customary - Metric

    Instructions

    • Preheat the air fryer by running it at 390 °F (thin sausages) or 360 °F (thick sausages) for 5 minutes. Add a little bit of water to the bottom of the air fryer basket to avoid excessive smoke.
    • Place the sausages in the air fryer basket and air fry at 390 °F (thin sausages) or 360 °F (thick sausages) for 12-14 minutes, turning them once halfway. Cook time will vary with the size of your sausages.

    • Check to make sure they are cooked through - they should reach an internal temperature of 165 °F - then serve!

    Notes

    What to Do with Leftovers

Sausages are best eaten right after cooking, but you can save leftovers as well.
    • Storing: Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
    • Freezing: Do not re-freeze leftovers.
    • Reheating in the air fryer: Reheat at 400℉ (200℃) for 3-5 minutes, until heated through.

    Tips For The Best Result

    • To avoid excessive smoking, pour some water in the bottom of the air fryer. This helps dilute the fat that drips off the sausages, and which can otherwise burn.
    • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Cook in a single layer and leave some space for the air to circulate around the sausages.
    • If the sausages are stuck together, start by thawing. Air fry 2-3 minutes, then separate and spread them out.
    • Use a meat thermometer to make sure they are done. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to defrost frozen sausages before cooking in the air fryer?

No, frozen sausages do not need defrosting before going into an air fryer. But because they're frozen, they will of course take a bit longer to cook compared to fresh sausages.

How long to cook frozen sausages in an air fryer?

Frozen sausages will take on average 12-14 minutes to cook in an air fryer. An average Cumberland sausage for example takes roughly 12 minutes to cook from frozen, and Richmond sausages will cook in 10-12 minutes.

Do you need to add oil when cooking frozen sausages in an air fryer?

No, you do not need to add oil when cooking frozen sausages in an air fryer. If you know food tends to stick a lot to your air fryer basket, you can add a little spritz of cooking spray, but otherwise it's not necessary.
