    Equipment

    • Air fryer

    Ingredients

    • 2 large sweet potatoes
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil or neutral cooking oil
    • ½ teaspoon fine table salt
    • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
    US Customary - Metric

    Instructions

    • Preheat the air fryer by running it at 400 °F for 5 minutes.
    • Peel and wash the sweet potatoes, and cut into sticks ¼ inch thick.
      2 large sweet potatoes
    • Place the sweet potato fries in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper then toss to coat evenly.
1 tablespoon olive oil, ½ teaspoon fine table salt, ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
    • Spread out the sweet potato fries in an even layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure there is not overlap, and some space around the fries for the air to circulate.
    • Set your air fryer timer to 8 minutes and the temperature to 400 °F.
    • After 8 minutes, remove the fry basket and shake it around a few times to ensure even cooking. Then place it back in the air fryer cook for another 7 minutes.
    • Check and see if the fries are cooked to your liking. If not, add 3-5 minutes more.

    Notes

    What to Do With Leftovers

Sweet potato fries are best eaten directly after cooking, while they're still hot and crispy. However, you can also store leftoves.
    • Storing: Store leftovers in the fridge in an air tight container for up to 4 days.
    • Freezing: I do not recommend freezing leftovers.
    • Reheating: Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 4-6 minutes, shaking once halfway.
    • Make a casserole: Leftover sweet potato fries are delicious made into a french fry casserole.

Tips for the Best Sweet Potato Fries

    • Make sure to cut the fries evenly. This ensures they will all be done at the same time, instead of some being burnt while others are still not done.
    • Shake the fries around at least once while cooking. This helps ensure even cooking and crisping of the fries.
    • Change up the seasonings. You can swap the salt & pepper for anything you like. Some of our favorites are cinnamon (yes, just try it!), paprika powder and garlic powder.
